Advanced Nuclear Services, LLC is a company affiliated with the Scatter X-ray Imaging (SXI) research group at the University of Florida in the Nuclear and Radiological Engineering Department. As the SXI research group, Advanced Nuclear Services has developed and deployed several radiography by selective detection (RSD) x-ray backscatter devices that are currently being used by NASA and Lockheed Martin to perform non-destructive evaluation (NDE) inspections of the spray on foam (SOFI) insulation of the external tank on the space shuttle.


The RSD x-ray backscatter devices are now comercialized and available to industry for a variety of NDE applications. Years of research, development and expertise are put into practice in a commercial and industrial setting to provide a unique single-sided x-ray backscatter NDE technique.
